General Syed Aamir Raza CNSC

General Aamer Raza is the current Commander of the National Strategic Command National Command Authority Pakistan. He became Pakistan’s first Commander of National Strategic Command on July 24, 2026. Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif appointed him as Chief of Defence on the advice of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Ahmad Chief of Defence Forces Pakistan. The post was created through the 27th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan. Following the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee was abolished under the Army Act, and the position of Commander, National Strategic Command was introduced in its place. This position is primarily concerned with the oversight and command of Pakistan's nuclear and strategic assets.

General Aamir Raza to the 22th course of the Officers Training School (OTS) in Mangla and was commissioned into th 6th Lancers in 1988. He graduated from the Command and Staff College in Quetta and the National Defence University in Islamabad. He also holds degrees in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, as well as Strategic Studies, Warfare, and Defence from NDU. Throughout his career, Raza has held several key positions, including Director General of Weapons & Equipment at GHQ, Commander of IV Corps Lahore, and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila. On January 24, 2025, he was appointed Chief of the General Staff (CGS). His military decorations include the prestigious Hilal i Imtiaz (Military) and the Sitara e Basalat.
