Chukor National Bird of Pakistan
The national Bird of
Pakistan is Chukar partridge. Chakoor has its native range in
Pakistanand Afghanistan. The Scientific name of Chukar is Alectoris
chukar. Average length of Chukor is 34–38 cm and average weight is Male
538 to 765 grams , female 367 to 538 grams . Average life span of
Chakor is 2 to five years in natural condations. The Chukor partridge
cannot fly in a long distance and his average speed is 20/ K.M per hour.
In the breeding season the female lays 8 to 20 eggs in total and 1 egg
per day throughout the captivity period. Their nest is a scantily lined
ground scrape protected by shrubs and small brambles.Normally their
nests exist on hilly slopes with rocky offshoots, above streams. Nesting
Chakor may be seen within 3 km of water.
