Makhdoom Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani is the current Chairman of Senate of Pakistan Islamabad. Yusaf Gilani has been elected Chairman of Pakistani Senate. On 9 Apil 2024, he was elected unopposed as chairman of the Senate of Pakistan. He has taken oath which is administered by Muhammad Ishaq Dar Presiding Officer on same day. He was elected member of senate as PPP candidate and for chairmanship he was candidate of joint government alliance. Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani is a seasoned politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 25 March 2008 to 19 June 2012. He has previously held the position of Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan, Leader of Opposition in Senate of Pakistan and Federal Minister. He belonged to Pakistan Peoples Party.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani was born April 14, 1948 in Multan Punjab province of Pakistan.Gillani went to Government College University. He got a degree in journalism there in 1970. Then, in 1976, he got another degree in Political journalism from the University of the Punjab. Gillani is married to Fauzia Gillani, together they have four sons and one daughter.
